Updated: 21st June 2020

Following the easing of lockdown measures by the Welsh Government, we are pleased to announce the limited reopening of the Riding Centre from Friday 26th June 2020. This will be for existing customers with some riding experience to start.

Following Welsh Government guidance, we will only be taking bookings for one-to-one private lessons/rides or groups from the same household. We will review this as and when restrictions are relaxed further, with updates posted to our website and Facebook page.

In line with current Welsh Government guidance, clients are reminded that travel to the Centre should be ‘local’. We understand that the Welsh Government intends to lift this restriction on 6th July.

To prioritise both the safety of our staff, and your own safety, we ask that all clients respect the measures we have put in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The measures are outlined below, and we ask that you take 5 minutes to familiarise yourself with these before you arrive:

Observation of Government Restrictions

To protect our staff, we will only take bookings from households who have been observing strict social distancing, are non symptomatic, and who have observed all Government restrictions during the lockdown. If you or any members of your household have coronavirus symptoms, including a high temperature/fever, DO NOT come to the Centre.

We also ask that you do not attend the Riding Centre if you come into contact with high risk individuals on a regular basis, or you are yourself considered to be higher risk should you come into contact with the virus.

If you feel unwell prior to arrival

Clients should be aware of the symptoms of coronavirus. If you feel unwell prior to your booking, or need to self isolate, please contact us to cancel. We will refund you in full if you cancel up to the day before, or move your payment to a future booking when you are feeling better.

Arrival at the Centre

Note: Two metre social distancing must be maintained at all times.

Personal belongings

To avoid unnecessary contact, we will not have storage available for personal belongings. Please leave these at home or in your car (at your own risk).

Car park

Please park sensibly and maintain social distancing in the car park. If you arrive early, please stay in your car until 5 minutes before your lesson / ride.

Family members / Spectators

For everyone’s safety, we ask that clients limit the number of accompanying family members or spectators to one other person from the same household. Their name must be registered with the centre at the time of booking. Dogs are not permitted.

Meeting point

There will be a designated meeting point just outside our reception area, signage will guide you. The reception area and the rest of the activity centre (including the cafe) will be closed. Food and drinks are not available for purchase. Please refrain from socialising with other customers who may be leaving. Two metre social distancing must be maintained at all times. We reserve the right to check clients temperature on arrival.

Please wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water as soon as you arrive at the meeting point. The hand-wash station will be signposted. Hand sanitiser will also be available.

There will be one toilet available for customer use, but please only use the toilet if essential. The toilet will be cleaned regularly along with handles and touch points. Please wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds after use. Hand sanitiser will be available outside the building as an additional measure, and we ask that you use this before and after entering / exiting the building.

During the Lesson / Ride

Lesson Content

All lessons / rides will be risk assessed and kept within the rider’s competence.

Essential Safety Equipment

All riders must wear their own riding hat (which conforms to current BHS safety standards), suitable riding boots, and clean riding gloves. We advise that clients also bring a face mask with them, should the instructor need to assist them at any time.

Registered spectators must wait at the meeting point until called by the instructor, and observe all rules and signs that are in place.

For competent clients, the instructor will prepare the horse (untie, tighten girth, pull stirrups down, etc) before passing the horse to the client. Social distancing must be maintained — follow the instructions of the instructor.

For less capable riders, those under 18 years, and vulnerable adults, an accompanying competent adult from the same household or the instructor may help with mounting (if instructor assists both client and instructor must wear masks and gloves).

Returning to the Yard

At the end of the lesson / ride, the client should return the horse to the tack up area and tie securely. If necessary the accompanying competent adult or instructor wearing a mask and gloves can assist with this.

Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water at the handwash station you used when you arrived.

Clients to depart immediately

All clients and spectators must depart immediately following their lesson / ride. Please refrain from socialising with staff or other customers who may be arriving. Do not stay to watch other lessons. Two metre social distancing must be maintained at all times.

Please do not get changed before leaving the Centre. Travel straight home and wash all your clothes immediately to kill any germs. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds when you get home.

Cleaning of tack

All tack will be cleaned with a suitable disinfectant by a member of staff immediately after use and between lessons. All staff will be wearing appropriate P.P.E.

Following of instructions

Please follow all instructions given by staff members and instructors. This equally applies to spectators and other family members. The measures are in place for both the safety of our staff, and your safety.

Contact tracing

We will maintain an accurate list of all staff and visitors attending the Centre to assist with the Welsh Government’s Test, Trace, Protect strategy.

The details of this register will be held in accordance with data protection legislation and our Data Protection Policy. We will only share information with Government authorities if we are required to do so by law. Under 18’s and vulnerable adults must supply the details of the member of your household who will be attending with you.

We appreciate that these measures are severe, but we feel they are critical to keep our staff and customers safe, prevent the spread of the virus, and comply with Government guidelines at this difficult time.

By booking a lesson / ride with us, you acknowledge that you have read and accept these conditions in full, and agree to abide by them at all times.

We appreciate your continued support, and look forward to welcoming you back to the centre!
