Visiting us safely

We have new measures in place in order to keep you, our staff, and our wider community safe and help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

To ensure your visit to us is as safe as possible, we ask that all members of your group take 5 minutes to familiarise themselves with the following information prior to your arrival at the riding centre.

Contact Tracing: We will maintain an accurate list of all visitors attending the Centre to assist with the Welsh Government’s Covid-19 Test, Trace, Protect strategy. Your details will be held in accordance with data protection legislation and our Data Protection Policy.

Be sure to check out the Visit Mid Wales website before you travel for tips on how to Visit Wales Safely.

Don’t visit with symptoms

Please DO NOT come to the centre if you or any members of your household have symptoms of coronavirus (a persistent new cough, temperature or sudden loss of taste or smell), or you have been in contact with anyone else who has.

You should contact us to cancel. We will refund you in full if you cancel up to 24 hours before your booking. If you cancel within 24 hours, we will move your payment to a future booking when you are feeling better.

What you’ll need to bring

European standard hard hats are provided, but if you have your own riding hat (which conforms to current BHS safety standards), please bring this with you.

To help control the spread of coronavirus, we’re also asking customers to bring the following items with them (if they have them) to avoid using ours:

Suitable clothing & footwear

Please wear long, comfortable trousers and dress for the weather.

Footwear: Wellingtons or a sturdy shoe or boot with a small defined heel is great.

If you have nothing suitable, we have riding boots here (please let us know your shoe sizes when booking).

Gloves

As part of our infection control measures, you’ll need to wear clean gloves while riding.

If you don’t have any, we sell riding gloves for £2.50 a pair – please order these when booking.

Face mask or face covering

Please bring a face mask or face covering.

We have a duty of care towards our staff and customers. To help us keep everyone safe, face masks will need to be worn on the yard and when you are getting on and off your horse.

Arrival at the Centre

Please follow all instructions given by staff members and instructors. Additional safety measures are in place for both the safety of our staff, and your safety. Please maintain two metre social distancing at all times.

Personal Belongings

To reduce contact and the risk of virus transmission, we will not have storage available for personal belongings.

Please leave these at home / at your accommodation or in your car (at your own risk).

Accompanying Family & Friends

To protect our staff and aid social distancing, we ask that accompanying family and friends not participating in activities do not congregate in our reception areas or at the meeting points.

Why not pop in our Cafe for a drink or snack (opens mid-August) while you wait?

Visitors must observe all signs and instructions, and maintain social distancing with other groups using the centre.

Hand Washing

As soon as you arrive at the centre, please wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water.

Wash-hand basins are located in the toilets, just inside the entrance.

Hand Sanitiser: Hand sanitiser is available at the entrance doors and at various points within the centre. Please use frequently.

Check-in

All visitors to the centre must check-in at reception. Our staff will take your contact details to assist with the Welsh Government’s contact tracing strategy.

Our reception staff will point you in the direction of our Horse Riding meeting point, where you will meet your instructor.

Please refrain from socialising with other customers who may be leaving, and maintain two metre social distancing at all times.

Disclaimer / Waiver

Disclaimers must be read and completed online prior to your arrival at the centre.

Cashless Payments

To reduce contact and the risk of virus transmission, we are operating a cashless payments policy on-site.

If you wish to buy anything (food, drinks, etc) you will need to pay by credit/debit card or mobile payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay). Contactless payments can be accepted up to £45.

During the Lesson / Ride

All lessons and rides will be risk assessed and kept within the rider’s competence. Social distancing must be maintained — please follow the instructions of the instructor.

On the Yard / Mounting

Non-riders: For non-riders, an accompanying competent adult or the instructor may help with mounting.

If the instructor assists, both the client and instructor must wear a face mask / covering and gloves.

Competent riders: The instructor will prepare the horse (untie, tighten girth, pull stirrups down, etc) before passing the horse to the client.

During the Ride

As part of our infection control measures, gloves must be worn at all times during the ride.

Face masks/coverings do not need to be worn during the ride, unless the instructor needs to assist you or the instructor is leading the horse on the lead rein.

Returning to the Yard / Departure

Non-riders: Non-riders will be assisted to dismount the horse by the instructor. Face masks / coverings and gloves must be worn by both the instructor and client.

Competent riders: The client should dismount and return the horse to the tack up area and tie securely.

Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water before you leave, and when you get home.

Acknowledgement of Risk

It should be recognised that while we will take all reasonable steps to prevent the transfer of Covid-19 to our staff and customers, there will always be a risk that an infected person visits the centre and either through droplet transfer, aerosol action or smear infection, transfers the virus to others. Our customers should be aware of this and make their own decision given their specific circumstances whether this small residual risk is one they are willing to take. The residual risk should be no greater than in many other public spaces and facilities that are already open or will re-open in the coming months.

By visiting the centre you acknowledge and accept this risk, and agree to follow all instructions and safety measures during your visit.

We appreciate your custom, and look forward to welcoming you to the centre!
