PRESS RELEASE: Activity Centre Scoops Top Regional Business Award
An
activity centre that was voted “leaps and bounds” ahead of the
competition has won the prestigious Parcelforce Worldwide Small Business
of the Year Award for Wales 2005.
Regional judges unanimously agreed that Llangorse Multi Activity Centre
in the Brecon Beacons was the champion for the Best in Wales title. The
centre is also a contender for a National Tourism Award for Wales.
The 50-year-old business began life as an outdoor pursuits centre, but almost ten years ago - with help from a European grant - an innovative indoor centre with more exciting sporting activities was born. The centre now boasts 120,000 visitors a year, ranging from schools, sports clubs and families enjoying a day out with a difference.
Llangorse centre director, John Thomas, said: “We are very much a family run business and as we offer something completely different, we decided we would have a go at entering the Parcelforce Worldwide competition.
“It is the first time we have entered and we are extremely delighted
to have been picked as the Welsh winner. I am delighted to receive this
Award as recognition for the efforts of everyone at the centre.”
